9 Keys Tarot – ROOSTER Dec 13 – Dec 23

9 KEYS TAROT; Rooster – Sagittarius iii December 13 – Dec 21
The Rooster is a symbol of the highest point in the movement of Fire, so its effects are both that of Celebration or Burnout. We need the heat of FIRE to thrive through the Winter, but can get burned if we stand too close to it for too long.

At this time of year, we can be tempted to push ourselves to the point of exhaustion in order to enjoy the feeling of reward. But keep this Rooster card in mind, and try to pace yourself during the next few days so that you don’t suffer from Holiday burnout this year! Perfection is not as important as being mindful during this extra social season.

The finish line awaits us this at the end of this decan, while we wrap up efforts from the previous year, and tie up loose ends. We need to allow those things that no longer serve our greater good to pass by the wayside, while we put finishing touches on the projects we have worked to complete.

Astrologically, the Sun is in the third decan of Sagittarius approaching the Winter Solstice. The Sun rules this decan, providing the last drop of vitality and strength to complete whatever lies just unfinished. Holiday plans should be easy to wrap up within the next ten days in time to ring in joyful celebrations, if we are mindful.

Last week brought us a conjunction between Neptune and Mars in Pisces, with Mars just leaving yesterday. The combination of these two planets bring added energy to idealistic plans, especially those that serve humanity. I hope you’ve made some plans to accomplish great goals during the latest New Moon in Sagittarius that include serving your circles of influence.

Jupiter is happy in his native home of Sagittarius and will prevail over the new year, 2019, with larger than life excess… and expansion of great Hope. At this point all the planets but Uranus are moving direct, so we can expect smooth sailing when eccentric Uranus goes direct in early January. This bodes well for us steady growth and progress through mid-April and hopeful energies all year.

It’s easy to anticipate with joy our upcoming special Holiday moments during this week, but we may also miss dear ones no longer with us. The skull in the background of this card shows us that we are mortal, and as such can choose to surrender to the sanctity of ‘each moment as a holy moment.’ May we honor our loved ones as the cock crow wakes us to the fact that it is time to “Seize the Day!” and create a lifetime of fullness though awareness of the wheel ever turning. Be grateful for the little moments of joy, for of such is life made.
Bright Blessings to you and yours!

Namaste and Happy Celebrations of Light~

Free Your Shadow!

~”We see the world not as it is, but as we are.” ~ anon

In a nutshell, “Shadow work” is the process of looking at your hidden self and befriending it. It can be very beneficial to look within, to the Source of our thoughts, actions, and reasons behind them! Some people may be afraid to look into the ‘darkness’ but when we add light, the darkness flees. It’s much easier to understand your personal bias’, reactions and go-to solutions for daily problems once you’ve taken the time to look within.

You can awaken to your Whole Self during this period that Venus is in apparent retrograde motion, October 5, 2018 through November 15, 2018. I will present Tarot cards, themes and subjects for you to ponder to discover new options that serve you better; visually, aurally, physically or a combination of these methods. I aim to include methods for the integration of your body, mind and spirit to work and play together!

I will offer you these FREE introspective lessons using the “Tarot of Transformation” by Willow Arlena and Jasmin Lee Cori. These cards are delightfully constructed pieces of art, in a dreamlike style, which allows the user to easily enter a meditative state of reverie.

We will start by observing our “perceptions” and how they influence the way we see the world. This will be followed by some suggested exercises and topics to consider more deeply.

For example, I bet you didn’t know that the story of Jesus wrestling with the Devil is an archetypal lesson in shadow work! In this lesson, we learn that once we gain dominion over the automatic, animal, programmed responses we use to live, we gain a strong ally – our subconscious mind! By doing this, we gain helpful insights to our own behaviors and the reasons why we act as we do, criticizing ourselves, creating blocks to our success or even self-sabotage.

I suggest that you get a dedicated notebook or journal in which to leave your insights. By journaling, or creating art, or even doodling, the subconscious mind exercises its insight. The purpose of doing introspective work is to get the subconscious mind on speaking terms with the conscious mind. When we use both aspects of our mind, we become more creative problem solvers and more successful in our lives!

We will consider various Tarot cards to meditate upon and to consider how its corresponding topics apply to our lives. I’ll post details here soon on how to sign up and join our group!

Disclaimer: I am not a licensed psychologist or counselor, only have an ongoing interest in tarot and self-reflective work. These topics are universal to personal understanding and should be able to be addressed directly by healthy adults. If you are new to introspective work or find there are issues which cause you concern or distress, please seek professional counseling. Thank you!

Venus Rx Shadow work

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing & right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” ~ Rumi

I’m excited about this upcoming period of Venus Retrograde! It is a perfect opportunity to do “Shadow work!” If you want to loose your anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity – do this work! Looking inward, we will discover many truths about ourselves, some we are proud of and some we wish to hide. Those darker truths are called our “Shadow”. Everyone has them. But by doing this introspective work every few years, we can upgrade our state of personal understanding and grow spiritually, emotionally, and remove many, many blocks that hold us back from living a freespirited life!

I’d like to explain a bit of what this process is: It’s using a few moments of quiet, meditative time to ponder the bigger, archetypal parts of your inner life, so that you can reflect your strengths in the outer world. When you practice doing inner work, you grow, little by little, and start creating better mental habits so that you are more patient with your Self and others, kinder, and more understanding of where others may be coming from, especially when stressed.

Now, a sign of emotional maturity is being able to do introspective work without attachment to the outcome. If you want to really know the truth, you must not be attached to the outcome. It can be made easier by having the compassionate courage to look behind your actions, to your motivations, and having the desire to truly want to understand yourself. Don’t criticise or judge yourself, just look BEYOND your self with impartiality, as you would do with stray thoughts during meditation.

A good mantra to keep in mind is, “I will be gentle with myself.”

The goal of meditation is to get to the point of ‘No Mind‘ or the absence of conscious thought. It is possible and becomes easier with practice. Be gentle with yourself and schedule some regular time during the day to become still in order to meditate. I find that the best time to meditate is upon waking or just before bed when my conscious mind relaxes. You can do this work just after lunch or dinner too, as long as it is a regular time set aside for your personal ‘self-care’. When you start doing this work you may be pestered by random thoughts or physical irritations. When random thoughts bombard your quiet meditation, say to yourself, “Oh, that’s a thought” and dismiss it. If another thought is recognized, release it by thinking “Hello thought. Goodbye.” Do the same with physical irritants.

Meditation is a great practice to warm up with when we begin to do our Great Work of recognizing our True Selves. We must go beyond the concepts of me and mine, to the place of recognizing the “Inner I”.

The “Inner I” is also known as our eternal Spirit. Our Mind uses our brains to think our thoughts. It uses our brains to do the processing but our brain is not our true Self. Our true Self, or individual consciousness, is part of the Cosmic Consciousness. Our true Self is a fractal part of God, the “All that Is” Self, the field of consciousness that is everywhere and is everything. In Kabbalistic teaching, there is a saying, “There is no place where God is not”. Knowing that makes it easier to connect with our Creator and the fire of that Spirit that dwells within each of us. 🙂

Now that your mind is blown, I hope I can bring you back to Earth!

Shadow Work is the practice of introspection that will heal and inform, define and awaken your True Self to its foibles and follies, patterns and preferments. The mind, like the rest of our bodies, is a cyclical being, which excels at times and occasionally runs on standby. During a Venus retrograde, we have the opportunity to do powerful reflective work (on a deeper scale than is possible during regular waxing and waning periods of the Moon) because Venus movements through the heavens affect us collectively on a ‘heart center’ ~rather than the gut-level emotions of the Moon.

Venus is slated to go into apparent retrograde (Rx) motion October 5, 2018 through November 15, 2018. This is a good time to reflect on the things that we are attached to, whether they be our programmed beliefs, our habits or our comfort zone~ as Venus’ influence over our hearts desires and typical reactions are softened for review during a retrograde cycle.

I will pull Tarot cards from the “Tarot of Transformation” by Willow Arlena and Jasmin Lee Cori, each day that relates to the paths on the Kabbalistic ‘Tree of Life’. Some will be the 9 tarot cards that relate to the 9 basic vices/virtues our 9 personality types carry as an emotional “Achilles Heel”. The point of doing Shadow Work is to familiarize yourself with your dark side and befriend it~ as it makes a powerful ally when understood. For example, Fear shows us how to be Courageous. We can be afraid but act with Courage. That way we embrace our Fear as a guide that points out our weakness and allows us to grow!

This work is easy and can be considered playing with your subconscious…I’ll ask you to spend some time getting comfortable, grounded, and then relaxing so you can spend some time gazing at each card in a light state of reverie. As you ponder the photo of the card, write any words that come to mind, report how the colors make you feel, see if any shapes or images stand out and journal about them. (Oh, and you don’t have to share your discoveries with anyone, unless you want to!)

Then consider the theme I will present and the corresponding titles and meanings the tarot cards present. There are NO wrong answers. This is personal work that will bring up lots of interesting ideas, feelings or memories. Gently allow them to flow by….as emotions and memories are like clouds in the sky and are not to be held too firmly in this Shadow work. Playing with our shadows teaches us that there is nothing to fear, but the fear we stir up in ourselves. Our goals are to become empowered by discovering and understanding our true Self, releasing our blocks and using the wisdom this brings for greater success and happiness. Eventually, you will find you have more control over your thoughts and feelings and are on your way to a powerful freedom of Spirit!

See you in the ethernet ~soon! ~K

Setting a New Course for Adventure!

“Ships in a port are safe
but that’s not what ships are for.”
-anon

Today we set course for a historic port!

This is our starting point for the great “MusicMuse Tour” of 2018. We will search out many cities and towns that we haven’t seen before. We will learn bits of new languages, taste new foods, and experience life in new settings.
This is the first leg of the tour and where we begin to rediscover more about ourselves and each other, more of the world’s cultures, food and traditions. We will learn by exploration and by meeting local people. We hope to make many new friends and return to many places as we begin the third chapter of our lives.

To enter a country where you don’t speak the language, have only a cursory amount of information about the history and culture, values and traditions, can be daunting. But we are headed for the adventure of a lifetime…so stay with us and find out more about the secrets waiting to be discovered in these unknown (to us) lands and people.

READY – SET – GO!!!!

VIRGO DECAN II

Virgo Decan II begins September 2, 2017
Ruled by Venus, the Copper Woman of the Canadian North, who rules Nature with the purpose of a united consciousness of all sentient beings. Mother Nature reminds us that we share a common destiny on this planet. We must love our Mother Earth, and stand up for her care, lest she rise up against all who would discredit her power and abuse her resources.

The Image of a Brown Bear with a Salmon in its mouth are seen on my “9 Keys Tarot” deck, as the 9 of Earth, indicating Satisfaction. When the world works according to natural order, all beings are satisfied with abundance and dedicate themselves toward outcomes for the Greater Good. The Salmon has spawned and gives up its body for the greater good of the Bear. The Bear keeps the number of animals in balance of its own territory. Nature keeps her realm in harmony with cycles and the rhythms of the “hoop dance” of life.

If we could learn to live in support of the needs of all the people, we could live in peace. When natural disasters occurred, a multinational group would be able to supply emergency care to those in need from our pooled resources. When we are greedy and take too many salmon out of the river, or resources from others, we open the entire world up to devastation, pollution and misery. It’s no wonder native people stand up against foreign invaders. It’s only natural to do so.

Negotiation that resolves conflict with win:win outcomes is the only civilized answer for a peaceful world. Equality, that stems from a loving heart and the will to persist in this ideal, must overcome greed and the use of power over others.

At this time of the year, just before the Autumnal equinox, we are bound to “noblesse oblige”. We are obliged to live out our highest virtues, as our higher selves. We must strive to practice living in the presence of our divinity, with a respect that honors the dignity of each sentient being.

When we gather in our abundance for the winter to come, we do so using the power of Will under Love, in order to create an order which serves and provides for ALL. Namaste’

Virgo Decan I – (relief links included)

As of August 22, 2017, the Sun moved into the sign of Virgo which began the first 10 days of this decan. We have just had a powerful, total Solar Eclipse over the entire, continental United States. Omens such as this indicate great change in politics, especially for the leaders of countries, as indicated by past history. Whether we take the high road of equality, justice for all and equal opportunities for all, or we fall to the low road of might overpowering the masses, remains to be seen. It surely is a time of meeting at the crossroads.

This eclipse brought thousands of people together to gaze at one moment in time, upward, in a fascination and in hope for enlightenment. Psychologically, this is a major reset for the US. As the 5 retrograde planets move forward in motion over the next few weeks and months, we will see a re-setting of each of their respective energies here on Earth.

The Image of this Decan, Virgo I, is a fruit tree. The fruits of our past are being shown to us and we are tasting the bittersweet fruit of realization that in over 200 years, the ideals on which we founded this great experiment in Democracy, have still not been met. I wonder if the Spirit and Will of the majority of the people will be determined to fertilize and support this Tree of Life, or will we be scattered to desiccating winds of infighting and angst?

The image I have for the corresponding Tarot card, the 8 of Earth, is that of two dogs sharing a stick. It is a time for compassion, sharing our resources and engaging in brotherhood, neighborly kindness and equality. Unfortunately, on date Hurricane Harvey came inland over Houston, Texas, with catastrophic flooding and destruction. This major natural catastrophe does allow for us to be kind to one another and help in the relief efforts of so many people.

*We should not forget that large areas of INDIA, BANGLADESH AND NEPAL have also had epic flooding as well. Over 12,000 people have been declared dead and many thousands more are homeless, with no safe drinking water or shelter. This is a terrible calamity for all of humanity to endure. What affects one of us, on a soul-level, affects each of us.

May we each do all we can to assist in relief efforts as well as pray for leadership to pool our common resources to supply aid and offer hope for our brothers and sisters who are now suffering.
Namaste

HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF:(Thanks to Laurel Wamsley)FB
General Relief
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner established a Harvey relief fund at The Greater Houston Community Foundation. The organization connects donors with a network of nonprofits and innovative solutions in the social sector.

GlobalGiving, which calls itself the largest global crowdfunding community, has a goal of raising $2 million for its Harvey relief fund. Funds will be used first for immediate needs of food, water and shelter and then transition to long-term recovery efforts.

United Way of Greater Houston has launched a relief fund for storm-related needs and recovery. The organization says it already maintains a disaster relief fund but anticipates the needs of Harvey will far exceed those existing resources.

The Center for Disaster Philanthropy has also launched a Hurricane Harvey relief fund. The organization says its strategy emphasizes “investing well rather than investing quickly, addressing the greatest needs and gaps in funding that may be yet to emerge.”

GoFundMe, the social fundraising site, has created a landing page that gathers the campaigns on its platform related to Harvey.

The Salvation Army says it is providing food and water to first responders and preparing for massive feeding efforts for residents.

Send Relief and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief says its teams began responding before Harvey made landfall and continues on-the-ground relief work.

Samaritan’s Purse is accepting donations as well as volunteers for Harvey disaster relief for the coming months.

BLOOD
Local organizations accepting blood donations are Carter BloodCare and the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center.

SHELTER
Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County coordinates the city’s response to homelessness, serving as “a backbone organization” to groups that offer direct service. It has been providing updated information on shelters with available beds.

Airbnb has set up an urgent accommodations site, where people can open their homes to evacuees from the storm or find shelter themselves. Service fees are waived for those who check in by Sept. 1.

FOOD
A number of food banks will be aiding the affected region. Consider donating money instead of food, as it allows a food bank to use your donation most efficiently.

Feeding Texas is a statewide nonprofit that works alongside state and federal relief efforts. The organization says it steps in during major disasters to “coordinate with the state and other providers so that relief reaches families quickly and the ‘second disaster’ of an unorganized response is avoided.”

Here is its list of food banks in Texas likely to be affected by Harvey:

Houston Food Bank

Galveston Food Bank

Food Bank of the Golden Crescent (Victoria)

Corpus Christi Food Bank

Southeast Texas Food Bank (Beaumont)

Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley (Pharr)

Brazos Valley Food Bank (Bryan)

Central Texas Food Bank (Austin)

San Antonio Food Bank

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Portlight Strategies facilitates projects involving people with disabilities, including post-disaster relief work. The organization says its hotline for Inclusive Disaster Strategies has received urgent requests from people in need.

KIDS
The Texas Diaper Bank, based in San Antonio, works to meet the basic needs of vulnerable babies, children with disabilities, and seniors. It focuses on providing partner agencies with diapers and goods.

ANIMALS
The SPCA of Texas is organizing evacuations of pets in Texas (including 123 cats from a shelter in Corpus Christi) and offers resources on pet-friendly housing for evacuees.

Austin Pets Alive! says it has transported more than 235 animals to its shelter. The organization seeks financial donations, as well as people who can adopt animals.

Summer Solstice – Cancer Decan I

ART – MADONNA AND CHILD – ACRYLIC ON PRESSBOARD
The Summer Solstice came blazing in on June 20, 2017. Here in Denver it was hot as hades…which may be a cooler place to escape the heat! As the Summer season begins we are reminded us to blend the heat of the Sun with the coolness of Water. Staying hydrated is self-care which feeds our bodies and is essential with these high temperatures. It’s now warm enough to go swimming outdoors, splashing in a creek or relaxing near a body of water. As you spend more time outdoors, consider the elements of Fire and Water, your emotions and passions. What stirs your soul and moves you to take action?

The Ace of Water is the tarot card of the Summer Solstice. It features a chalice which symbolizes the womb and the waters of creation. All things are possible now! Carpe diem! Seize the day and begin to create a joy-filled life. The potential of new loves, better relationships, pregnancy, as well as starting new projects is upon us. What better time to organize block parties and meet your neighbors?

The tarot card for this first decan, or 10 day period, of Cancer is the 2 of Water which features the Madonna; a Cancerian moon mother, who nurtures us with unconditional love shining down as reflected light. There is no reason to fear the dark when the moon lights the night!

Summer nights invite us to stay outside late into the evening to visit more freely with our Moon mother. As the heat dissipates it allows the plants to exhale oxygen into the atmosphere. Be still and listen to this still small sound of Gaia breathing, continuing to perpetuate all animal life. The clean Air and fertile Earth are bursting with life giving energy at this time.

#Meditate on what you really need, not just want. Then make a plan to accomplish it. Discover your joy by treating yourself to some private time in the dark of the New Moon, June 22nd and remember who you were before you had a face. Namaste’
